Lake Atitlan Day Tour
Known as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Atitlán offers a magical combination of nature, living Mayan culture and scenic beauty. Surrounded by the three volcanoes Atitlán, Tolimán and San Pedro, the visit to the lake is a must when you come to Guatemala. A boat ride will take you from the village of Panajachel to Santiago Atitlán, one of the most famous towns known for its Mayan traditions, beautiful handmade textiles and paintings, and the traditional hand-woven clothes Mayan people use.
--What you can expect--
Departing from your hotel in Guatemala City you will be heading to Lake Atitlán. In the way to the lake we will make a brief stop in Katok, a famous restaurant located in the area of Tecpán, where you can have a hot chocolate or a nice cup of coffee. Upon arrival to town of Panajachel in Lake Atitlán, you will take a private boat to cross Lake Atitlan and visit the Tzutuhil Village of Santiago de Atitlan where you the confraternity of the local saint named Maximon is located. Guatemalan people of different ethnicities visit Maximon asking for health and prosperity in their lives. After the visit you will head back to Panajachel by boat, where you’ll have lunch in one of the most exquisite restaurants. In the afternoon you will be able to visit Santander Street and the market of Panajachel where you can buy traditional handcrafts. After the visit you will head back to Guatemala City
